What We Do

Texas Panhandle Nurse Honor Guard is a nonprofit organization of committed active and retired nurses who volunteer their time to honor and commemorate the lives and passing of fellow nurses who selflessly devoted themselves to caring for others.

TPNHG Memorial Service

The Texas Panhandle Nurse Honor Guard provides a meaningful memorial service honoring the life, dedication, and legacy of a nurse who has passed away. The ceremony includes the Nightingale Tribute, the lighting and extinguishing of the Nightingale Lamp, and the nurse’s Final Call to Duty— call that goes unanswered.

TPNHG Standing Guard of the Remains

Texas Panhandle Nurse Honor Guard members stand vigil at the nurse’s final viewing, providing a dignified and respectful presence in honor of their service and dedication to the nursing profession. This solemn tribute symbolizes the respect and gratitude of fellow nurses and the nursing community.

TPNHG Graveside Tribute

The Texas Panhandle Nurse Honor Guard provides a solemn graveside tribute honoring the life, service, and legacy of a nurse. Fellow nurses gather to offer a final farewell and recognize their dedication to caring for others and the nursing profession.

TPNHG Living Tribute

The Texas Panhandle Nurse Honor Guard celebrates living nurses by honoring their dedication, service, and contributions to the nursing profession. This special tribute recognizes nurses while they are still with us and celebrates the lasting impact they have made on patients, families, colleagues, and their community.

TPNHG Pinning Ceremony

The Texas Panhandle Nurse Honor Guard honors graduating nursing students as they enter the nursing profession. Through the traditional Nightingale Ceremony, the lighting of the Nightingale Lamp, and the unified recitation of the Nightingale Pledge, students are welcomed into the nursing profession and honored for their dedication to a career of caring and service.
